The Vets are about an hours drive away much of it the Motorway so we made good time. Ozzie was a brave Lad on the journey and we arrived on time for our appointment.
We were met by Sara Gould the specialist Oncology Vet, after going through his History and looking at his results she confirmed that it was lymphoma and was one of the more common types, she explained it was a Cancer which could not be cured but can in a lot of cases be put into remission, left untreated Ozzie would probably have two to three months to live but with treatment so long as he responded Ok to the medication could have twelve months plus.
There is a couple of options for treatment the more intensive one which involves Ozzie having to visit the vet every week to have injections, medication and blood tests or the less invasive which involves taking tablets which we would administer at home, with the way Ozzie is with going to the Vets the first option would not be fair on him and the stress of traveling a two hour round trip every week to the Vets.
We have made the decision to go for the second option. Sara the Vet took some blood samples which they analysed and showed the levels are Ok at the moment, so she has given us some steroids and some Cancer drugs that we will start treating him from tomorrow, then in about ten days time he will have to visit our own vets for blood tests to see if the treatment is starting to work and whether any adjustments are needed to his medication. She did explain that the drugs he is taking are Human Cancer Drugs because no one makes any specifically for Animals.
Anyway that's all for now.Not really what we wanted to hear its all very upsetting but we have got to stay positive and hope the Drugs can do there job.
We must say a massive Thank You to all our Pals on Twitter who have been so supportive with your Prayers and good wishes
