OZZIES PATHOLOGY REPORT BACK

When we first discovered that Ozzie had a Tumour growing in his eye we had a biopsy done at Referral vets Willows in Solihull see blog February 2013:  http://theozziecat.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/my-mate-ozzies-has-eye-trouble.html they were pretty well certain it was a Benign Tumour that would not spread but not 100% as they could only take a very small sample to test. We decided to have a full pathology report done when Ozzies eye was removed last week just to be fully sure for our own peace of mind. Yesterday the vet rang us to say that he had got the results back and the good news is, as was suspected it was the Benign Tumour they thought it was so it would not spread, that gave us the reassurance because in the back of your mind the thought that, maybe it wasn't was always there.

OZZIE'S COUNTING DOWN TO STITCHES COMING OUT !

Ozzie had another visit to the vets yesterday to check on his progress. Andy the Vet was very happy with the way it is healing up very nicely and the good news is that Ozzie has come off his medication which seemed to make him so very sleepy & lethargic, he was almost back to the old mad self again, he even went for a short visit outside on his harness which he really enjoyed.
Next Monday he is booked in to have his stitches removed, then 24hours later that very annoying collar can come off ! .He will be so happy about that because he gets so frustrated keep catching it on things and is a bit challenging when it comes to eating and drinking and the worst thing he can't get out to his outdoor run because the collar won't go through the cat flap to access it !. He will be so happy next week when things can start to get back to normal again

Looks a nice day lets go explore !

This collar is so annoying!

QUICK VET VISIT TODAY FOR OZZIE

Ozzie had a routine visit to the Vet this morning to see how he is progressing since the operation on Monday, and the good news is its looking good, Andy the Vet is very happy with how it looks and unless there are any problems in the mean time his next check up will be next Monday & then if all goes to plan the following Monday the stitches can come out and that annoying collar can come off ! .
He is still a bit quiet and spends most of the time sleeping on our bed, saying that since he came back from the vets this morning he has settled himself down in the top of the airing cupboard, which is a lovely cosy place to have a nap and also well out of the way just in case anyone tries to bundle him in a cat carrier again.  Had his breakfast in bed again today hope he is not expecting this to become normal routine ! this has started something because  his sister Jasmine expected her breakfast upstairs as well today.

OZZIE'S BACK HOME AGAIN !

Ozzie is now back home again after his operation, feeling a bit sorry for himself after his ordeal, we collected him from the vets yesterday afternoon as we suspected he did not enjoy his experience at all, He wouldn't eat anything at the vets they tried him on his favourite Gourmet Pearle Pouch but he wouldn't touch that and they even gave him some lovely freshly cooked fish & chicken, but no he wouldn't have any of it, so when he got home he was starving and got stuck in to his food straight away with a little difficulty as he has to wear an Elizabethan Type Collar to stop him scratching. The vet had warned us all along that it might be shock when we first see him after the Op as they have to shave his fur off around the area of the eye, so when they brought him out to us he didn't look as bad as we thought he would and when the stitches come out in about 10 days time and his fur starts to grows back he will have his handsome good looks back again. He has a course of antibiotics some anti inflammatory  medicines to take but luckily we can administer them in treats and in his food that makes life easier and also less stress for Ozzie !.
He has spent most of the time since he got home sleeping on our bed, got me up about 6am so he could get a drink from the bathroom sink then lay in the bath and had a nice bit of fuss for a while purring away as loud as you like, then it was back on the bed again where he remains at the moment, he even got treats & his breakfast in bed today ( little did he know they contained his medicines ) so I hope he doesn't expect this all of the time !.
Jasmine doesn't quite know what to make of her brother, when he came home she just sat and looked at him for a bit thinking it looks a bit like my brother, but there is something different about him !, then she preceded to follow him around watching then sniffing him which in the end Ozzie was beginning to get fed up so he went under our bed for a while until she got bored and left him alone. He will have to go back to the vets on Thursday just to check on his progress.

TODAY IS THE DAY OF OZZIES EYE OPERATION !

The day we have been dreading has finally arrived. Ozzie is off to the vets this morning for the operation to remove his left eye. Its been what seems a long four days since we made the appointment, time seems to go so slow in the build up to any situations like this we have been on very stressed, with it always in the back of your mind, and to add to the stress my 8o year old Mother had a fall on Friday dislocating her hip so she was rushed into hospital and is still their at the moment with the possibility of needing another hip replacement, so we have been visiting her and feeding her cat & budgies and our friends cat as they are on Holiday this week all adds to the fun !. Ozzie will have to stay at the vets for 24hrs after the Op so hopefully he can come home on Tuesday. So must go and get his carrier ready that's usually a tricky manoeuvre getting him in to it. He is wandering around meowing at us both because he has not had anything to eat since last night so cannot understand why he can't have his breakfast !. Will write an update later.
UPDATE: Ozzie had the operation this morning it all went well they will see how he is in the morning and if it all looks ok he will be able to come home tomorrow. Can't Wait to get our mate back where he belongs having a mess about at home. Jasmine has been a little quiet today without her brother around but like I said make the most of it he will soon be back hogging all the food & treats ! .

OZZIES EYE UPDATE 2

Some of you might have noticed Ozzie has not been Tweeting much the last few days https://twitter.com/ozziecat1 . Not good news this week we noticed there was quite a dramatic change in the look of the Tumour in Ozzies left eye it looks as if it has got a lot bigger quite quickly over the last week, also Ozzie has not quite been himself for the last few days a lot quieter than usual and hasn't been upstairs in the early hours of the morning to hunt for his treats that we hide in different places every night, usually waking me about 6am to help him get to the last ones that are behind a curtain at the top of the stairs which he needs a bit of help getting too ( but sometimes he manages on his own, think he just likes to get me up to join in the fun ! . ). Anyway up to now his has shown no sign of his eye bothering him but I suspect it probably starting to do so now. We spoke to our vet Andy Barwise @ http://www.demontfortvets.co.uk/ who has been monitoring the pressure in his eye for the last 9 months or so and as Ozzie has probably got little or no sight left in the eye now we have decided that the time has come and the eye will have to be removed. He has been booked in for Monday 28th October to have the operation to remove it. We are very stressed at the moment with the thought of it ! but no other choice it has to be done. We will update you on his progress.

Rain stops play !

Monday morning and its raining !
Watching the weather forecast last night there was no mention of any amount of rain a few isolated showers they said, since when has a shower lasted over 3 hours !. They might have millions of pounds worth of technology to predict the weather, they either don't know how to use it or the equipment & software is a bit rubbish !, invest in piece of seaweed and fir cone & take a look at the sky in the morning and evening to see if its red or not ,its much more accurate.
The 'gang' Ozzie & Jasmine are both pretty fed up it means they can't go out for there morning mess about in the garden, which means the whole days routine is going to be messed up !.

Raining again ! at least it good for the Garden so they say !

Ozzie fed up waiting for the rain to stop.
''Might as well have a sleep until it does !''

Jasmine has decided to sleep it off on her comfy bed until it stops raining.

Ozzie visits the Vet Today

Today at 2pm Ozzie had his routine check on his eye at the vets. He was a good lad and was quite calm he is usually very stressed and hides under his blanket in his carrier but he was ok. The vet checked the pressure in his eye and the good news it is not any higher just above normal so Ozzie is not in any discomfort ,so fingers crossed he will be ok and can keep his eye for a good bit longer ! .We made an appointment for 4th December to have it checked again so hopefully there will be no change.
OZZIE CHECKING THINGS OUT !

Ozzies Eye Progress Report.

Ozzie has to go to our local vet every 3 months to check the pressure in his eye which has been ok so far. The Tumour has grown a bit since earlier in the year but it does not seem to trouble him at all at the moment , so we will keep our fingers crossed it will hold out a bit longer until the time comes when he eventually will have to lose it.

OZZIES EYE UPDATE.

An update on Ozzies eye. We have spoken to  Christine from Willows she has been in touch with her collegues in America and there opinion was that the tumor is quite large and as it would be possible to operate on the eye and remove the growth, there is a high risk that some of the Tumor cells may be left after surgery so that in the future it will grow back again and the eye would then have to removed. We have now made a desision that as he shows no signs of his eye bothering him at all at the moment, rather than put him through the trauma of an operation which we know he will not take very well and then have to go through it again if it doesn't work is to monitor the eye regularly every 2 months or so and to check the pressure in the eye to make sure it is not giving him any problems, and when it becomes too big and is a bother to him then we will have to have his eye removed.
